If you are saying you are using Compaq Insight Manager, then the way to get specific alerts from the server instead of general notifications is to set your SNMP parameters for each server you want to get alerts from. When setting the snmp parameters be sure to make sure that the devices send there alerts to your CIM console.
For Netware add the CIM console IP address to the bottom of the SYS:\ETC\TrapTarg.cfg file, this should be the section titled Protocol UDP.
For Win2K, start services and look for the service SNMP Service. You will want to set your community string, the Trap Destination is the IP address of your CIM console. You don't need to run SNMP Trap Service as this is for receiving traps from other devices.
