Hi,

I have recently bought a new pc with a nice 17'' flat screen monitor. Once started for the first time, the monitor resolution was great. However, once windows crashed me out of a video editing package, the resolution was not quite the same even though the display setting are almost exactly the same as how they were before... I have tried downloading drivers without success...
Any ideas??
Thank you.

What's different?

try removing the graphics/video profile from the device manager and re-install the proper driver.

hope this helps. peace! [peace]

Hi...
What I meant to say is that the monitor settings are identical!

Check the refresh rate. Go to Display properties, settings, advanced, adapter and List all modes. LCD refresh modes are not as high as CRT so try some different refresh speeds up to 75 Hertz. LCD screens are best in their native modes, probably 1280x1024 for a good 17".

Also, the monitor may be defective.
See if the same problem happens with it connected to a different system.
If so, then RMA it for a replacement under warranty.
