I have a Samsung SyncMaster 913v flat panel monitor that I bought about a year and a half ago. Lately I've noticed something amiss with the left side of the screen. Text along that side of the monitor seems a little too dark, or maybe a bit fuzzy (kind of hard to describe). Could it mean the monitor is going bad?.

Do you see the same effect from Safe Mode, if not perhaps there is a Video driver update?

Does your Monitor have any calibration checking abilities via the Video Card Display drivers, or any adjustment via the buttons at the bottom of the screen?

Do you have a spare monitor you can attach to see if the problem occurs on that?

Here are a couple of things you can check to rule it out to being a bad monitor or video adapter problem.

- Press the degauss button to demagnetize the monitor
- Check the cable and make sure all the connections are secure, if there is another known good cable try hooking this one up and see if problem still occurs
- Make sure no devices are causing interference with the monitor (wireless devices, radios, cell phones, speakers, etc.)
- Make sure screen resolution and refresh rate are correct
- Start computer in Safe Mode and see if problem still occurs
- Connect another monitor and see if problem occurs with different monitor

Hey thanks! I went to the Samsung faqs and they recommended using the auto adjust button and that fixed it. I only assumed something was wrong because it was only the left side of the screen that was distorted. A few nights ago I downloaded a Netflix miovie and watched it. I had to adjust the montior using the so-called MagicBright button to view the movie properly and that must have knocked it out of whack somehow.
