Hi, my brother and I just went through the task of moving a Dell computer into a 3rd party case. To make a long story short, we tested it before we finished everything (installing all the fans, lights, and organizing wires) and it appeared to work fine. We then hooked up some fans and made some minor changes - tried it again, and it didnt work. We unplugged alot of the fans and it still doesnt work. At first, it would say "i/o parity error" during bootup, but now the monitor isnt even receiving a signal. It seems like my brother will unplug a few things and Re-plug them in and it will work again for a few mins, but then the monitor will lose signal once more. Any help is welcome! Thanks

It might be worth unplugging just one thing at a time to see if one item can be found to cause the fault.
also It just might be vibration making something shake loose.
Sorry if you have tried all these, maybe someone with better knowledge will be able to help. Occasionally tho it is the simple things that do it.

Please post back if it helped.
kind thoughts

I have come across a simular problem before where the graphics card would work for a few minutes but once it wormed up it failed, replaced the graphic card and problem cured

Since you just moved it into another case, look at the tail of the graphic card to see if it is fully inserter into the slot.
Some cases have the M/B sitting too high, and when the graphics card is tied down with the lockdown screw it cams the card in such a way that the tail partially twists out.

This if you have a separate video card.

I took it all apart and put it back together again and it works =). I think I isolated the problem with the modem card - when its in, the monitor doesnt work, but when we pull it out, it works. I dunno.
Now If i can only get the sound card to work...
Thanks for the help =)
