I look at sites like 2advanced.com that have lots of text/buttons that have the same kind of transition and when I build something like that, I have to, for example, create a symbol with the text/icon I want to do with a certain transition and then do a second symbol that contains the transformation of first symbol (e.g. slide to left, alpha 0 to 100, and flicker).

If I have a gallery that contains many examples and I want to do this transition for certain elements many times, I have to create the text/icon symbol and the transition symbol each time which becomes tedious in short-order. I was thinking people must be using some kind of modular-type layout to accomplish this sort of thing to avoid the repetitive creation and allow ease of editing down the road.

So, my question is am I doing too much work to accomplish what I want to do? Is there a more systematic approach anyone has read about? Is this something I should be doing with Actionscripts or will that require more work?

Sorry for being kind of cryptic and vague but just need a better way of building sites, etc. to take up less time and be easier to edit.

Now that I think about it, what I'm looking for is a book/site on best practices for creating Flash projects efficiently. That simplifies my above explanantion.

Anyone come across any good sources?
