I need to change one of the function keys on my keyboard to open a program.

I would like to execute this command...

"C:\Program Files\QM\QMRun.EXE C:\Program Files\QM\QMD\FillerRod.qmd"

Any thoughts on how I can get started?

OS: WinXP Pro & Win2K

Try these ideas.

Problem registering F12 as a hotkey in Windows XP

I tried the ideas, but they are a little too simplistic for what I am looking for. I would like to embed a DOS command into a keystroke. I am just wondering if this is possible.

Thanks!!

Hi,
May be a silly question, but why a hotkey and not a desktop shortcut?

Taking "Turkbear's" idea a bit further and placing it on the keyboard as a shortcut key. Is that workable for you, using the Properties of any shortcut on the Desktop to create a shortcut key?

"Provides a space for you to type a keyboard shortcut that you press to start or switch to a program. Shortcut keys automatically include CTRL+ALT. Press the key you want to add to this combination. For example, to define the shortcut key combination CTRL+ALT+H, press H. You cannot use ESC, ENTER, TAB, the SPACEBAR, PRINT SCREEN, DELETE, or BACKSPACE.
No other program can use this key combination. If the shortcut key conflicts with an access key in a Windows-based program, the access key does not work. An access key is a letter or number that, when used in combination with the ALT key, carries out the same command as clicking the command with the mouse."
