Can anyone give me a step by step guide to sharing my modem on windows 2000 server using NAT. I have tried everything I can think of and read several articals but I cannot seem to get it working. I want to carry on using IIS which is running on the server for developement.
I am not not running active directory, nor is DNS enabled.
It is currently running DHCP but am happy to switch this off if necessary and use the "baby" DHCP built into NAT.
I know this is a lot to ask but this would overcome alot of problems I am having at the moment, I have received so much conflicting information on this subject that I am left not knowing where to start.
Many thanks for any help you may be able to offer.

Thanks but have tried that.
After clicking on several links I end up back where I started more confused.
Someone out there must have done this.
Do I start with DHCP enabled?
What is the first step? Do I set up routing first? If so how do I configure it to allow me to set up demand dialling?
What are the correct settings I should have in RRAS?
I have tried every Microsoft help and have scoured the net to find someone who knows how to do this to no availe.
Is it actually possible? :)

Thanks from someone who is slowly going insane.

It is very possible. There are a cpoule of different ways to do it. With ICS start-> settings-> network and dial-up connections->you right-click your connection, sharing tab and check share this connection. In the same box it has the enable dial on demand, and check that also. All your machines should be set up as dynamic ips. Where are you running into problems? You can also set up RRAS with 2 NICs, but as Westside will tell you, that is a bit more difficult.. Matt Wray

I dial up with an internal modem, simply right clicking and selecting share this connection and enable demand dialing does not work weather I am running DHCP or not.
I would like to set up RRAS and enable NAT to handle the dialup, but everything I've tried has failed. If anyone has a managed to set it up this way I would be greatfull for your assistance.
Many thanks,
Steve

To set that up you will first need 2 NICs in your server. Give your LAN NIC a static IP. Have your DHCP scope point to this as your router and DNS. Set up NAT and make sure your server is able to get to the internet and post back with any problems. Matt Wray
