can anybody assist with these two queries?

1) i have installed a modem (3com us robotics)onto a pc running win2000 server. the modem works fine for a certain length of time then after a random number of connections, the modem will not dial. the error message i receive is 'the modem could not be detected' the only way i can see of getting around this is to delete the modem from device manager, reboot the system and allow win2000 to detect the modem through plug and play. if i do this the modem is detected on first reboot, it installs correctly and i can again use the modem for a random number of connections until the problem re-occurrs.

i have however noticed that i can force this problem to occurr if i interrupt the modem whilst connected (i.e. turn off the pc). if i do this, the next time i attempt to dial i receive the error message as above.

2) i am using a win2000 server as a print server. printing works fine from all printers however occasionally i receive the error message 'waiting for printer port' in the status of the print queue. this prevents any further jobs from being sent to the print device. to clear the problem i have to restart the spooler service, this works 50% of the time. the other 50% of the time i am forced to reboot the server. this problem is not confined to a single print device, it has occurred on numerous devices

can anybody please assist with either of the above two problems
