We are using Wingate to on our NT 4 server to enable everyone to have access to the internet. Most of the time it all works fine. However, once or twice a week the modem does not hang up when it has been inactive for the specified period. When this happens on a Friday and we do not spot it, we get very large phone bills and my boss jumps up and down on my head.

I have tried lots of things and I do not think the problem lies in Wingate. It "feels" as if something else is dialing out and bypassing Wingate and therefore not being required to terminate the call. But I do not know what it is ...

Any Ideas??

Thanks

Thanks, I went to the technet website and it appears there is a bug in NT4 (no surely not!! :p ) that means that althougth the idle time disconnect appears to be set up, it isnt. There is a workaround described which I have implemented. Now I have to wait to see if it cures the problem.

Hi stillsmiling,

Am using the same system as you mentioned above and am having the same problem of disconnecting of modem I have got bills for 3 days last month.

Could you please give me the magic potion you used on your system.

Thanks a lot,
Regards.
