Modem dropping line

That is usually a software setting. The modem properties are not set to hang up upon connection termination. Go to control panel, Modems, Dialing properties and set it to auto disconnect after use or event (however it's worded). I borrowed this from a tech-tip my company has available to me. Hope it is useful.
