HI,

we're using ipo 406DS running v4.0.5.
we have analog trunk card with 3 nokia 32 mobile terminals connected. any calls to mobile numbers get routed to the mobile terminals.
this is all working fine but...
there is noise on any calls. a constant buzzing can be heard during call setup & the call itself, just enough to annoy the user.
we've patched the analog trunk card directly into an analog trunk line & there is no noise.
we've patched an analog phone directly into the mobile terminal & theres no noise. i've tried 4 different mobile terminals, they all have the same problem.
i've moved the analog trunk card to a differnet ipo with the same results, noise when the nokia is used off the back of the ipo.

any suggestions on what to try next?

regards

Are they too close to the IPO??? Mobiles make noise.

Grounding the cellular gateways to the same location as the IP Office might help if it is electrical noise. If you are getting noise because of the RF a few ferrite chokes on the lines entering the IP Office do the trick.

Apologies for the delay in geting back to this.

firstly. i've moved the mobile terminal from the ipo (5m approx). still getting the noise.

also i've added a ferrite choke to the line into the ipo, to the line linking the mobile terminal to the ipo & to the power lead. none of which resolves the problem. i've powered the ipo & mobile terminal from the same outlet to put them on the same earth. problem still persists.

i've replaced the analog trunk card. problem still there.

i've used the onboard analog trunk on an ipo soe & the problem goes away. thats why we replaced the card.

thanks for the help already offered. any other thoughts?

If you have patched an alog ext into the trunk port and there is no noise, the nokia terminal is introducing the noise.

That is the system ruled out.

these nokia terminals worked on the clients previous system with no problems.
it does appear as if theres a mismatch between the ipo 406 & the nokias.
its strange that theres no problem when they are used with a soe.
any thoughts on why this should be.

maybe the soe uses an old version of atm (built in) and the 406 the new type of atm

nokia's and ericsson (and others) terminal have always been fine for me.

Only thing I have come accross is problems with the dial tone frequency. Nokia's are set to a Swedish dial tone and some systems have problems recognising this.

Can you put a test phone inbetween the IPO and the Nokia to see if you hear the noise there?

How is it physically connected?? lead direct into the IPO or do you have a socket to plug the Nokia into?? Is it a master?? Cut out the Capacitor.

i've patched a phone directly into the nokia & there is no noise on any calls.
i've patched the nokia directly into the ipo trunks and via data outlet across the comms room. both scenarios produce noise.
i don't understand what you mean by master?
the issue you mention about dial tone frequency, is there an solution? a setting i can adjust?

thanks for the help
