How do you load a certificate into a Windows Mobile phone. I am using a Linux Certificate to authenticate.

Stick the USB cable in.
Drag and drop the CER file (the certificate) to the device.
Take the cable out.
"Browse" to wherever you put the CER file and "click" on it.
It will ask you if you want to install it.

Now, that was too obvious for words so I'm guessing you've done all that and something hasn't worked as desired?

Yip came up with an error about installing, it's a HTC phone

And it's not something stupid like you being on Orange is it? Their WM5 devices are locked. If you've got a WM6 device there should be no problem. (If you're wondering wtf "Orange" is it means you're not British and don't need to know)
Whatever else you do you don't need to fuss about running any reg changes or anything to overide cert checking etc. That's only for PPC, not WM.

It should simply work - as long as the CER is ok obviously.

Not British so we don't get Orange although I have seen them advertising in F1. The certificates work on the PC's so Outlook anywhere works. Not sure of the version of WM will check when the users back in the office. Is there anything that needs to be done on the server I enabled the User for Exchange ActiveSync and created a Exchange ActiveSync policy

Thanks to all. I'll see if I can get it to work

You have to make a cab file to install the certificates. Here is how you do it. I am pretty sure it works on all Windows Mobile platforms.

It is what it is!!

OK certificate's installed, HTC is running WM5, how do I get connected to exchange 2007

You're not asking for much, are you? Assuming that EAS is configured and working on the Exchange box, configure the settings on the phone and go.

EAS is configured, I was just wondering for the first time should I just sync the phone with Outlook/exchange using the USB cable will this pull down the settings or try connecting via 3G?

If you have a decent data plan, go with the latter. 3G speeds are pretty good, and ActiveSync over the air compression is superb. Messing about with ActiveSync client software on XP is far too much of a hassle for me (though Vista is great)

Go with 3G, shouldn't take more than a minute or two to fully sync and then your away!

Thanks to everyone so far, sorry for all the questions but coming from an Exchange 5.5 background to 2007 is a bit of a learning curve. I got the syncing to work. now how do I get the push technology going?

Well, let's hope the build of WM5 is the right one :-)
On the "schedule" part of ActiveSync (on the phone) make sure there is an "As items arrive" in addition to the usual "every 5 minutes" blah blah options. If you don't have this option then it's all over.

Thanks Mark works perfectly
