MMTASK & MMSYSTEM.DLL ERRORS

OK , I'm new here so I hope I am doing this the right way.
here is my problem:
When I reboot I get the "blue screen of death"
which says "ERROR:OE:0177:BFF8E64B" HIT ANY KEY TO CONTINUE AND I DO AND THEN I GET THE WHITE BOX WITH THE MMTAKS ERROR STUFF BELOW .
I KEEP GETTING A WHITE ERROR BOX WITH
THIS IN IT
FIRST IT HAD DEFRAG CAUSED A GENERAL PROTECTION FAULT IN MODULE MMSYSTEM.DLL AT 004:000011e4
AND THEN
MMTASK CAUSED A GENERAL PROTECTION FAULT IN MODULE
MMSYSTEM.DLL AT 0004:00000429????
IVE BEEN GETTING MMTASK ERRORS ALSO WHEN I TRIED TO SAVE SOMETHING TO MY FILING CABINET.: ( AND EVERYTIME WHEN I REBOOT ALSO GESH THIS IS DRIVING ME NUTZZZZ!
I JUST HAD THIS DANG THING REOFRMATTED
THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING TO ME .
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS I HAVE WINDOWS ME.& USE AOL 6/7/&8
AND HAVE DSL IF ANY OF THIS MAKES A DIFFERENCE

 
CauseThis problem can occur if the "drivers=mmsystem.dll" line is missing from the [boot] section of the System.ini file.
Resolution To correct this problem, follow these steps:

Use any text editor (such as Notepad) to edit the System.ini file.
Add the following line to the [boot] section of the file:

drivers=mmsystem.dll

Save and then close the System.ini file.
Restart your computer.
This is the fix for the mmsystem.dll.
I would also if you can get to windows update I would try to
update the system.
