I am physically moving a desk and phone to a new room. I need the extension number to follow that desk. I swapped an extension before, but our tech said I did it the hard way. lol I went in and changed one extension to 9999 then moved an extension up, then renamed the 9999 back to the normal extension etc.

My question is. What is the easy way. I wasn't sure if from a telnet I typed a swap command of some kind like swap 2111 with 2112 or what.

Any help is greatly appreciated as usual.

Sorry everyone. I don't have a tech handbook, but I found the following reference online.

MOVE SWAP <station A’s extension #> WITH <station B’sextension #>

Just beware that the MOV SWAP command does not take the current status of the MWI lamp with it. If MWI was "ON" at the old location, it will not be "ON" at the destination. Not only that, but the MWI lamp will stay on at the old location, potentially causing untold confusion.
