I keep reading everywhere how the Mitel 5330 (and other phone models) have a Web GUI.

Everyone says to merely put the phone's IP address into the browser and the GUI will appear asking for the username and password.

Well that never happens. I cannot get the Web GUI to work in any way.

My browser's workstation can successfully PING the phone's IP and the phone is working in SIP mode to the FreeSWITCH phone server.
But when I attempt to get into the Web GUI on the FreeSWITCH's workstation, I only get a Page Not Found and/or Timeout.

What needs to change to get this working?

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Well, I think you've been misled. There is no such thing as a web gui via the phone IP

There are user portals via the main controller that can access things like key programming if properly setup.

There are also other user portals via various application servers that can access many different functions as well.

Maybe start with what you want the User to be able to do.

Also it is very important that we know controller type and sw version.

Sounds Like SIp mode to me

If you are using the phone in SIP Mode ( NOT Default Minet) you can access it via its IP address

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

and due to an endless stream of MiCollab , MiCC issues
Life would be simpler If only they tested products properly before releasing them .....

Ah yes, the infamous SIP mode. Nevermind, carry on.

Why he doesn't get the popup login window, don't know, maybe a popup blocker setting

Yes good point - if you are using a new version of IE then make sure popup blocker is disabled and compatibility mode set

if not using IE , then use IE

First, thank you all for your replies.

1. I am using the 5330 in SIP mode, not Minet.
2. And it is working in SIP to a FreeSWITCH phone server.
Meaning....
A. It is working in SIP
B. I cannot use a Server interface to access it.
3. I am using the FireFox 36.0.4 (newest version) browser with no popup blockers.
However I did try IE7 and got the same No Success

If you are using the phone in SIP Mode ( NOT Default Minet) you can access it via its IP address

That is what I read on other web sites, but it is not working.
While looking at those other web sites I DID see where MANY others were having a similar problem, but no one had an answer as to how to resolve.

I'll continue to appreciate any advice you might have to offer.

Thanks

I can say what is wrong, switched my local 5330e to sip and I was able to login to it

But I AM already working as SIP and, regardless of that, am unsuccessful in trying to get to the 5330 via the web browser.

There must be some other more 'obscure'/less obvious setting within the 5330 that is disabling this from working.

I have my Firewall OFF on the workstation.
I can successfully PING the phone's IP address from the workstation.
And the 5330 can PING the workstation via its own internal Tools feature.

Do you have the HTTP set ON or OFF?
I have it set OFF on my 5330 since I am not attempting to do any HTTP GET/PUT or SOAP communication HTTP with it - only the TFTP PUT's from the workstation.

Might there be any parameter setting(s) passed to the 5330 via its CFG file(s) that don't appear in it's 'native' menus which could be affecting this?

Any other advice/suggestions?

Thanks,
JRB-Bldr

Does anyone have any more information on why the Web GUI is not available for my 5330?

Again, since I am already operating in SIP mode, could there be some other not-so-obvious parameter setting(s) within the 5330 itself (accessible through its own menu system) that could be preventing this from working?

Thanks,
JRB-Bldr

Does the phone have an inline power supply?

If so, what happens if you connect directly to the phone? Remove everything network related in other words.

What's most important is that you realise ... There is no spoon.

The phone uses a POE (Power Over Ethernet) connection and, therefore, does not use an external transformer-type power DC supply.

The 5330 POE Ethernet comes directly from the POE Switch and not utilizing any 'external', in-line power 'injector' on the Ethernet cable.
The FreeSWITCH server which I am using to attempt to access the Web GUI is also on the same physical POE Switch.

Consequently, this is as 'direct' as I can be while supplying power to the 5330 phone.

One thing I read indicated that I needed the most recent phone BIN file(s) (even if it has been a while since the releases).
After a good deal of searching the web I have found the following which were recommended to me to use:
BootIp5340.bin 10/2/09
L2Boot_5340.bin 6/26/09
L2Boot53xxTtn8M.bin 5/4/09
MinetIp5340.bin 10/2/09
I was told the 5340 was the same programatically as the 5330.

Perhaps these are contributing to the problem.
Or maybe they are helping me reach the Web GUI goal.
I don't know

Do they correspond to the 5330 BIN files on your phones which are supporting the Web GUI?

How about internal menu parameters?

Thanks,
JRB-Bldr

The most current release of firmware is 6.2.0.40 there is also a file called sip5340ttnlang_en_US.bin that may be useful.
