Missing Veritas Icons

I had been wrestling with a copy of Veritas BackupExec 8.6 and an Exabyte EZ17 tape library for some time. The software simply refused to work; it just gave one "excuse" after another, such as "No rewritable media", "no cleaning tape", etc. even though all of the items were available. I finally fixed the problem by uninstalling and reinstalling BackupExec. I was so happy with the result, but it didn't last long. Yesterday, when I went to check the system, my Veritas icon (and other icons, for that matter) was gone, and the program didn't even appear in the Programs list (this was on Windows 2000 Server). I checked for BackupExec under Program Files, and it appeared to be there, but the icon (and presumably the executable) for running it was missing. Has anyone had this problem and solved it, or does anyone have any suggestions (other than just reinstalling)? TIA

Hi,

This may possibly be an easy fix or a dumb idea, but anyway, it's just a thought.

What account was used to install the software? Is it possible that another account is logged in now?
