Hi,
Every time I open my VB project and try to compile it, I get a "cant find project or library". When I click OK, I get the Project->References window and I can see the missing reference. The problem is that it is pointing to a path where an old version of an app that I've uninstalled was located. I'm able to browse to the correct path, correct the reference, and compile the program just fine. But every time I close the project and reopen it, it goes back to pointing to the old path and I get the same error.

In other words, I am forced to fix the path to the reference tlb file EVERY time I open my project.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Souds like your uninstall missed part of the project - got any old .vbw's, .vbp's etc. laying around?

Do you save the project file before you quit VB?

Another possibility is there's an old entry in the registry for that file and it's getting that one instead of the current one.

Yes, I save the project. I can even see the correct file path listed if I open the .vbp in notepad. I'll take a look in the registry. The reference is to the WaveLinkOLE server component. After uninstalling the other version of WaveLink, the folders still exist, but there are no files in any of them. If I still had the file, I'd at least try unregistering it, but it doesn't exist anymore. I guess I can poke around the registry and see if I can find any entries.

If the resolution to this problem is to 'simply' clean the registry, there are various freeware's on the net to help with this. Here's a link to the one I use.
