Well I have win98 format c: drive reinstalled win98.

it was working just fine on an ordinary reboot now I get the message:[pc3]

Cannot find a device file that mey be needed to run Windows or a windows application.

The windows registy or SYSTEM.INI file refers to this devicefile, but the device file no longer exists.

If you deleted this file on purpose, try uninstalling the associated application using its uninstall or setup program

If you still want to use the application associated with this device file, try reinstalling that appication to replace the missing file.

vredir.vxd
Press a key to continue

Well once you hit a key the message duplicates but the file now is DFS.VXD if you hit a key now windows loads Iget to the wall paper and get another error "Windows Networking" Unable to load the dynamic link library MSNP32.DLL could not find the file.

I riped & reinstalled all of windows networking same error.
NOW can get online with that computer[afro]

Ok so far I was able to use sfc to put the *.vxd files back I put them in windows\system and windows\system32

But I still have the Unable to load the dynamic link library MSNP32.DLL The system cannot find the file specified.

I don't know if there is another location for the file to go useinf sfc.

But I can get online now.[afro2]

never mind after getting online I was able to run the windows update and that fixed the dll problem.[afro2]

If you get a similar message in the future, go to a search engine and type in "dll.files" and you can find plenty of sites to download dll files from.......Dave
