When laptop is turned on the message "Missing O/S" comes up. Then when the restore disk is put into the machine the message "Wrong Machine!" comes up. Is there a way to bypass "Wrong Machine!" message on a Toshiba Satellite 2800 and install another operating system? The restore disk with the laptop is the wrong one. Any suggestions?

Thanks CharlieJax.....However I have a bootdisk and have tried to boot from it..I can...it then asks for the restore disk that I do not have....Can I use an O/S disk at that time instead of the restore disk? Or will it tell me Wrong machine again? Thanks for your help!

You should be able to use any Standard OS installation disk, if you wish to install 98/2000/xp you can boot directly from the CD itself.

The OS installation disc will most likely not have the drivers contained on the correct "recovery" CD so be sure to download them from the Toshiba site first.

Russell.
