missing icon

How would i get the "safely remove hardware" icon back. I have usb devices that are frequentlt removed and plugged in, and it is causing the machine to lock up.

As you have probably found out there is not a lot of solid information around on this problem. Here is a collection of what there is.

This is from a similar question about other hardware but see if it works for you?

"Use the following steps to show the 'Safely Remove Hardware' icon in Windows XP:

Right-click the taskbar and select Properties.

Click Customize Button

Note: If Customize Button is greyed then check the Hide inactive icons.

Locate and highlight Safely Remove Hardware.

Click the down arrow and select Always Show.

Click Ok and then click OK again."
