Hi guys,

Just got a niggly query that I can't seem to fathom out.?

I'm using Internet Explorer 6.0 and I've just noticed that a few sites I'm visiting aren't showing .gif files properly?

I've flushed the temp files cache etc.. but to no avail. I only noticed this because I am on the team of an online magazine and I've just upped a load of GFX in .gif form and the rest of the team can view em apart from me. I'm looking at an empty space? .jpg images are fine.

Does this sound familiar to anyone.?

Cheers,

DaZ

Your answer might be in here:

Internet Exporer displays no Gif's

When you right click on the empty spaces do you get the option to "Show Picture"?

Cheers guys,

I don't get anything when trying to Right click & Show Picture. I'll have a look thru the old thread that you gave me and I'll let ya's know.

Oh BTW, just to make things more complicated, I can view .gifs from my own site but not others.?

Cheers,

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!

After reading the thread that Smah posted, it triggered a thought about my Norton Net Security set up. After viewing the source of the webpages that weren't showing properly, not only were the .gif files missing, the actual <img src> code was missing too. So that pointed toward a complete blockage somewhere and steered the prob away from file assoc. and MIME settings.

The actual problem was down to the AD BLOCKING being enabled in Norton.

Not only was it blocking ads in anim .gif form, it was blocking any plain .gif images aswell? Kinda defeats the object really.

I'm well happy now but it was a complete head scratcher at first.

Cheers guys,
