It's the same each time with progress. First they ignore you, then they say you're mad, then dangerous, then there's a pause and then you can't find anyone who disagrees with you.

You have to go into Disk Manager to set up a mirror.

Right click the My Computer icon. Click Manage.

Expand Disk Administrator.
You should have an empty volume of at least the same size as the drive you wish to Mirror.

Right click the drive to be mirrored and select Mirror.

Disk manager should present the drives available for the miror. Go with the defaults and just keep clicking Next or OK and all should be good.

I hope you find this post helpful. Please let me know if it was.

yes i thought that mark but when i right click i don't get option to mirror the exact sizes of hard drive are:
disc o 38.33
disc 1 38.17 <<<< is it because this is a smaller size that i dont get the mirror option

should i reduce the size of the extended partion of on the first drive to under 38.17 as i reduced logical it made no difference..

thanks

yes, the blank disk needs to be the same size or larger.

One thing though, are disk 0 and disk 1 physically seperate drives or partitions on the same drive? They need to be physically seperate drives to do a mirror.

yes they are 2 seperate hard drives on the same IDE master and slave. as it is only a test machine ill have to ditch the setup and start again with the smaller hard drive as master that should do the trick :)
thanks mark
