I just upgraded my laptop from Millennium to Win 2K PRO. it works fine but there is a second partition called "Microsoft Windows" when I re-boot.

I don't know why it's there but when I select it upon reboot, it briongs up my old Millenium,!!

can I somehow delete it?

Thanks in advance,

Jerry Scannell

Well it seems what you did was create a dual boot system rather than install 2000 clean.

Depending on if 2000 is using the Millenium partition to boot from or not will be what you can do.

We need a bit more info though:

Drive letters for each Windows setup.
Location of Windows 2000's boot.ini file.
Contents of Windows 2000's boot.ini file.

Just copy it here so we can see.

Here's how you find the Boot.ini file:

Ignorance is not necessarily Bliss, case in point:
Unknown has caused an Unknown Error on Unknown and must be shutdown to prevent damage to Unknown.

That's the odd part: There's only one drive after you boot up.

What I eventually did was to uncheck the box in the "Startup and Recovery Area" that says to "display list of operating systems for ... seconds"

Then, I renamed the windows directory to xxxwindows, didn't get any errors for over an hour, so I deleted that folder.

I think I am all right now.

Thanks,
