OK, I have inherited an E5.5 --> E2003 which has gone bad and need a little heads up to try to resolve the problems.
1st things 1st, the organisation:
- 1 AD Forest
- 2 AD Domains (CH & MO) - names changed to protect the innocent ;-)
What happened?
- Installation of E2003 in CD domain using install wizard - ok
- Installation and auto config of ADC using wizard - not completely ok (i'll expand later)
- Transfer of mailboxes to E2003 server - some (see above)
Basically what happened is that the ADC managed to link some of the mailboxes with some of the accounts in the domain CH and it was possible to transfer the mailbox - for those users things seem to be ok (sort of - again i'll expand later).
For the other users, about 150 or so, the ADC created a new disabled account in the MO domain ie the WRONG home domain of the user.
- What happened next is that for each of these users a new mailbox was created and an ExMerge was perfomed to move the mail from the E5.5 to the E2003. Outlook was updated manually and all seems to be reasonably ok.
- The AD connections were removed apart from the SRS and the ConfigCA's
Public folders were then migrated usign pfMigrate and all seem to be on the E2003.
The problems:
1. Inability to completely de-install E5.5 from the organisation - seems to be problem with rights...I'll conform this weekend
2. Users in CH do not have rights to open pf's on the CH E2003 folder - if I try to amend the permissions on the container (users effectively do not have the permission to read the pf container) I get an error message LDAP error 8007005 - googling turns up nothing useful
Questions:
1. Should all the disabled users (auto created by the ADC) in the MO domain be deleted? I think yes but looking for confirmation.
2. If that is done will that delete the mailboxes on the E5.5, if so is it a problem - I think not!
3. To comletely clean this org up, do I need to have completely removed E5.5 and all the ADC related stuff?
4. How can I get the users the correct rights to use the pf's?
Many thanks in advance.
