Migrating to DHCP 2

I would like to migrate to using dhcp for all devices except servers and like equipment. Currently all of our pc's have static IPs. What approach should I take?
Surely it would not be as simple as setting up my dhcp range an changing the pc's to use dhcp or is it?

Can I change the pc's at my leisure or does it have to be done right away?

Just make sure that the new DHCP pool doesn't overlap any existing static IPs.

So...I gather you are saying that it would have to be done right way. If I set up the pool first then I would have to change all of the pc's right away, correct?

What is the range of static IPs you have? Is there any room for a DHCP pool? You can change them over time, of that range of static IPs doesn't overlap with a DHCP pool.

However, in theory, a DNS server (at least Windows I know), first checks an IP address with a couple of pings, before giving that IP out. So in theory you wouldn't have a problem anyhow.
