Migrating from one Novell NDS to two child domains?

Hi there. We are in the planning process for a Novell 5.1 migration to a Windows 2003 domain model. A little background first:

Two Novell NDS servers with one tree and two distinct branches in the structure, lets call them Academic and Staff. This network also as an Exchange 5.5 server. Every user has a Netware account but only some have a domain account within the Exchange domain. Unbelievably they have been maintaining two distinct sets of usercodes, no one actually logs into the domain, it just has Exchange in it.

The model we are going to employ in the new Windows 2003 network is an upper management domain and two child domains. Each child domain will be based off each branch in the old NDS architecture. For example, the management domain will be randomcollege.edu and the two child domains will be academic.randomcollege.edu and staff.randomcollege.edu.

The questions I guess I have are:

1.) Will the standard Microsoft migration tools allow me to migrate just part of the old NDS structure? So I can migrate one NDS branch to one child domain and the other to the other child domain?

2.) As part of this, we will also be migrating Exchange 5.5. to Exchange 2003. We're planning on having two Exchange servers for redundancy. I'm assuming the best model would be to place these two servers in the upper management domain and have each child domain within its own informatio n store?

Any insight into this design or possible pitfalls? Any info would be greatly appreciated!
