We currently have one PDC NT4 domain supporting about 300 workstations. We want to migrate to a new Dell server with 2003 Server preinstalled but not setup. Our goal is to maintain the SAME domain name that was used in NT4 (if possible). We want to use ADMT for the migration. Keep in mind that the machine names are different (NT4 and 2003 Server names). Also, different static IPs will be assigned to the new server. Is this a do-able project?

I suggest you to go through the below links which gives excellent information helps your project go smooth:

1. Upgrade or Migration?

2. Migrating from Windows NT 4.0 to Windows Server 2003:

3. Upgrading from Windows NT 4.0 to Windows Server 2003:

The very first question you have is: upgrade or migrate?

After you answer the above question, follow the steps to complete your task. Plan well before you actually start your project.
