I've been poking around Avaya's site for service patches for my Conversant and it seems like I can upgrade my Conversant 8 to the new Avaya IR 1.2 platform. Can anyone confirm this and has anyone tried this migration?

Will I break anything?
lol, ok let me rephrase that, what will break and what can I do to fix it ;)

Hi FoneFun,

I read a little bit about the IR, it is on SunBlade machine. That's all what I know. You only buy software from Avaya, and the Sun platform from local Sun's partner. You need one or two digital cards to be bought separately.

If you bought a new one yes, its on a sunblade. But this upgrade seems to be available for us. (well me at least, I'm on a UCS1000)

Take a look at this:

CONVERSANT Migration to Avaya Interactive Response (IR) R1.2

Affected Version(s): Conversant (V6.1, V7, V8, R9)
Affected Platform(s): MAP100P, MAP40P, UCS1000

Problem Synopsis:

The mavscan.tar file provides tools that assist in the migration process from a Conversant V6.1, V7, V8 or R9 system to an Avaya IR R1.2 system. These tools should only be installed on a Conversant system. For detailed information on the actual migration process, please refer to the Avaya Interactive Response Release 1.2 Migration document. These instructions should be used and not the migration instructions found in the Migration section of the Avaya Interactive Response Release 1.2 Installation and Troubleshooting Guide.
