We need to replace a MICS 6.1 KSU Next week on a site. There is a possible back plane issue. Will we need to re program the system if we only swap out the main unit and use the same software.???
Reprogramming will be required as the database resides on the MICS backplane, not the software cartridge. As hawks mentioned, you can use NRU to save the database and then upload to the new backplane.
Are you replacing the system due to a PRI issue? I have seen the problems that can arise from 6.1 software with PRI trunking. I can red alarm the DTI card reset it. The problem is with the software believe it or not, if that is the condition you are experiencing. I had the problem and never would have thought that was the problem, but after replacing the software with 7.1 the PRI stopped going down.
