Hello,

I apologize up front if I am posting this question in the wrong area ... I am new hear and I am unsure of exactly where to post this.

I build computers and I have automated every part of the software loading and updating process except Windows Updates. I am not really asking how to automate the Windows Updates process however the download times for each system is upward to 20 minutes each. I was thinking that maybe there was a way to setup some type of proxy server that would cache recently download files etc... so that the next system that would need one of the Windows Update files it would get it from the Proxy Cache vs. having to download it again from Microsoft's website.

I realize that each update may be downloaded and saved locally to be applied individually, however this process (of having to install each update individually, manually) would take longer than just downloading and allowing the automated Windows Updates site to apply the updates automatically.

If anyone has any ideas to speed this process up I would greatly appreciate any input.

Thanks!!
Frank

PS ... One more thing that I should mention, the Microsoft Software Update Services application is really not an answer either. I looked into this and this is really for a large environment with many pc's that would be programmed to get its updates via the local server perminantly.
