I have been receiving the following error message each time I attempt to double-click on my C drive:

"Settings file C:\FILES\SETUP\setup.INI is missing or invalid. Please ensure this file exists and is accessable"

When I right click and select "open" I have access to my C drive. Would anyone happen to know how I may be able to recover whatever file(s) that I need in order for the double-click command to work.

Thanks in advance

look for the file c:\autorun.inf and delete it

This error message may occur because the Setup INI Customization Wizard incorrectly modifies an entry in the Visio Setup.ini file. Check out this article.

Visio2002: Error Message When You Run Visio Setup: Settings File <Path>\Setup.INI Is Missing or Invalid (Q302760)

I thank you all for you responses, however, I am unable to find a &quot;c:\autorun.ini&quot; file to delete. Also, the article does not say anything about the issue of browsing my c drive. My visio program works perfect. The issue once again is when I double click to browse my c drive, the error message &quot;Settings file C:\FILES\SETUP\setup.INI is missing or invalid. Please ensure this file exists and is accessable&quot; appears.

Any other suggestions?

To check out what actions are set for your drive (in any Explorer window) click on Tools/Folder Options/File Types/Drive/Advanced. What do you have listed under actions?

You may have some action listed to do with Visio. Have a look and post back.

The only action that is listed is &quot;Open Command Window Here&quot;

You can search in Regedit for the DRIVE key and see if there is anything odd there, as to what programs it is loading.

If playing in the registry is not your thing perhaps you could run the System File Checking program and see if that makes any difference. (Sfc /Scannow)

After that you have the option to repair windows by running it over itself (you will lose updates to windows but not your data)

I have not got a clue on how to look through the Regedit functionality. I did do the system file check but was not given the option to repair windows.

Try repairing windows by running it over itself. You will lose all your windows updates but your files will be untouched.
