microsoft publisher convert to single color pdf

How can I convert a rgb publisher file to a single color (black) pdf?
I have tried converting the file in publisher 2000 under tools/commmercial printing/color before printing to acrobat. I have also printed to ps and distilled. I have likewise tried printing separations to pdf, but when doing so I loose the gray screens set up in the rgb publisher file that was sent to me.

Not sure about ver 2000, but in 2002 & 2003b, when you choose your printer (Distiller), click on "Properties" tab, then "Page/Layout" tab, you should have the option in that menu to print in either color or B/W (greyscale).

Sorry, I am using Publisher 2002. The sequence you mentioned is not available for Distiller. There is no Pagelayout tab under properties and no choice for color or grayscale that you wrote.

The file I was given was created in Publisher 98? or earlier. I tried to change the publication from rgb to single color, but still the pdf contained rgb type and art.

Is there an expert on Publisher out there anywhere who also knows about Acrobat?

Before you Distill your publication, when you are making your PS (PostScript)file (printing to a PS printer) check your printer settings. See if there's a Tab or Setting to "Print Colors in Black" or something similar. I believe the function you require has to be performed in the Printer dialog/settings rather than the Distiller. It's been my experience that converting from color to b&w printing can take place as one of the printer settings.

I think this is a Publisher issue. When I print to distiller from pagemaker I can get true CMYK or true black PDF files.

Publisher seems very weak when it comes to commercial printing.

I was hoping to find an easier way to take customer files in publisher format and convert them to CMYK or true black PDF files.

All I can get is rgb pdf's from publisher.
