Microsoft publisher conversion 1

OK -- tell me I'm wrong. Can I convert microsft publisher documents to jpeg or other readable files for other platforms or am I limited to the the publisher program??? I know there is eps and web based uploading but can I do anything like adobe offers?????

Do you mean something other than using the "SAVE AS" function on your file menu and selecting something besides .PUB ?
Saving in the other file formats sometimes looses some of the design features from Publisher. In order to preserve your formatting, you'll need something like Adobe Acrobat.

I believe you can also save MSPub pages as HTML. If you use a program such as Snag-It, you can do a screen capture and save as JPG or similar formats.

One thing you can do is, with nothing selected, click on "Select All" under the edit menu (or CTL-A). This selects every item on your page. Then right-click, select "Save as Graphic," assign your file name, and select your file format (JPG recommended). This preserves your page layout, but the drawback is that this file cannot be edited.

You can convert the .pub to a .pdf to view and print. But, can't make any edits. Adobe has a trial online subscription service that gives you 5 free conversions.

JerryGuinn's post on converting a *.pub to a *.jpg was helpful, but I needed to call Microsoft to learn that this will not work with MS Publisher 2000 but you have to upgrade to at least MS Publisher 2002 or newer. Jerry, thanks for getting me this far. . . . Earl Gough
