I'm running a VB 6.0 application that accesses SQL Server 2000 running on a Windows NT machine. I am receiving the following error while opening up a crystal report:

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Communication link failure

The source for the crystal report is a query accessed through a DSN. The weird thing is that not everyone gets this message, and it doesn't happen all the time. A few people get this message one morning, and then they won't that afternoon. And other people's applications run fine throughout the day. It's quite puzzling. Anyone have any ideas that could help me in figuring this out? Thanks in advance.

We had a similar problem in our old building and it mysteriously disappeared when we moved and rewired our network. Maybe you have a bad cable or hub or other piece of network equipment that intermittently shorts out dropping the connection.

Thanks for the reply... You know, I wouldn't be so suprised, with my cheap a$$ company. I'll talk to the network team and see if they can run some diagnostics.. Thanks again!
