Microsoft Access system error

This morning I was working in Access, but when I tried to re-open the program, I got this message. Has anyone gotten this message before? Any ideas as to the cause?

Microsoft Access
A problem occcurred while Microsoft Access was communicating with the OLE server or ActiveX Control. Close the OLE server and restart it outside of Microsoft Access. Then try the original operation again in Access.

The tables of this database are linked on our institution's server, nothing to do with an OLE server, simply a network drive. Could it be a network problem?
