No, you cant make Micros DHCP. All communication with the DB is via ports on the IIS, and all the clients are also static (open MDSHOSTS.xml and MDSPRINTHOSTS.xml) and you will see what I mean. If you get clever however, and have a properly managed network & DHCP controller (your modem), you could allocate a specific IP to the MAC address of the NIC (network interface card).
There are two IP addresses: the local address (subnet) and the public. The Modem has a public address and a local address. It shouldnt matter what the public addresses are. With Micros we usuall have the Micros server, then a separate CC gateway server on the same subnet, and this posts out to the internet to the Gateway server etc.
