Micros 5.2 OPS Errors on Startup 1

So Moved a Server from 5.0 to 5.1 to 5.2 All went well

Restored a 5.1 db into the 5.2 server. All went well

Computer name and ip are correct to the db.

All apps config etc work. just ops does not. Thanks in advance

When doing an upgrade it is usually a good idea to just wipe the workstation via the compact flash utility and CAL it again.

On the server huh? Check your DM.log. A frequent issue with updating a database is that the update succeeding BUT one of the upgrade scripts failed (maybe a table was locked or something). If the log shows that an upgrade script failed, just do start->run: dm -u

That command by itself will tell it to re-run the upgrade scripts on the database.

Make sure you have an RVC programmed to the server node in POS configurator under workstations.

A few suggestions:

1) Make sure anything third party that so much as reads the database is disabled while upgrading the database.
2) Do a clean reboot before attempting the upgrade scripts again
3) And finally, if that fails, do a rebuild and then backup BEFORE you try and upgrade the mbz file. This can help remove any broken indexes or rebuild corrupt views which might break the upgrade script.

So since I did not know the history of this server only that it had 5.0 running.

Well it turns out it had the 5.0 prereq run to get it to 5.o

The Res5Gen2 prereq to convert the Sybase from 11 to 16 was never run.

Discovered this when trying to install MR1a.

So everything ran converted and was a success.

Res Starts in OPS.

But Control Panel is not listing Workstations?

On control panel click view, and check show all clients. If not that then the ip or computer name is mismatched somewhere

Registry setting just like the auto start level. Doesn’t carry over with the database.
