I am working on an option 61. The other day they briefly lost power to the system and it immediatly went down.

They have a MFA 150 with 2 MPR 25 regulators. 4- 12V 100 AH batteries. During normal system operation the MFA 150 displays -52.1 V/A and the MPR25 Displays 10.0 Load/Charge.

I suspect the batteries are bad, but I am not sure how to troubleshoot the problem without just replacing the batteries.

Is there anyway to determine whether the batteries are at fault here.

Thanks

you can get a battery load tester, when we have a battery problem we call a company that does nothing but deep cell battries for testing, if you don't have any alarms, your right it is probley the battries. not very likely that both 25 died at the same time.. only problem is one bad battery can kill the pack

Thanks John,
I'll see if I can get a Battery company out there to test them.
Do you know if the batteries can be disconnected without taking the system down. I am concerned that if I disconnect the batteries to test them that the system will shut down.
Thanks,
Delmar

No, you can disconnect the batteries. In fact you should have a service disconnect installed for this very purpose!

correct, their should be a bat disco in place, warning, if they are not hooked up right, you could take the switch down.
