MEW on hunt group mailboxes.

Hi, Octel voicemail , MD110 BC12 -- Is it possible to give MEW for extensions in a hunt group. The mailbox number is the hunt group number, not the extension numbers?

IF I think your trying to do this..

example... hunt group number 3000
extensions... 5 in group, 1000,1001,1002,1003,1004.

people ring 3000, and you want to access the voicemail from accessing 3000's mailbox.

the best way I would do this.

give all extensions an ordinary mailbox,
set up a mailbox in the octel for 3000 as well.
set-up the 5 extensions mailbox's to AUTO-COPY to the new 3000 mailbox

then when you access the mailbox for 3000, wherever the message was left it will auto-copy to 3000, so you only need to check one mailbox.

AFAIK, if you put a MEW on the 5 extensions, I believe it should show a MEW light but the message will be in 3000.

you'd need to proove this

We did this at a customer in a special way.
As it allways was a problem with the voice mail and which of the agents in the group should take care of the voice mail messages, we made this special setup.
Therefore we made a CDINI for the ACD group to the voice mail system (OCTEL 200).
After the overflow from the ACD group has taken place the call will end in the OCTEL mailbox for the ACD group.
To ensure that the MEW signal is seen, we made AUTO-COPY
in the OCTEL from the mailbox for the ACD group to an Ericsson MD110 system telephone (e.g Dialog 2661)mounted on the wall. Now all agents can see the MEW lamp, and can log on to the mailbox for the ACD group and take the relevant messages.

Hi, Thanks -- but Pawshman NO it doesn't work. Extensions in a Hunt group will never divert, only the hunt group number will divert on busy - so in your scenario,I have auto copied hunt group 3000 to one dedicated extension in the group. So only one extension in the group gets the MEW indication. My customer is happy with this setup, some say good old Ericsson, others tell the truth.

AFAIK,
if you have 5 extensions in a hunt group
(say 1 2 3 4 5)
and HG is say 5000

if you ring 5000, depending on how the rotation is set.

it will ring say extension 1, if no CDINI is set on that extension, it will ring forever and a day or get busy.
the next call will goto say extension 2, and again if no CDINI is set on that extension, it will ring forever and a day or get busy.

this is how it "hunts", it looks for the first free extension and goes to it. what it wont do is ring extension 1 then 2 then 3 then 4 etc. UNLESS you set up a CDINI.

what usually happes is in said hunt group, you set a CDINI on each extension so that 1 diverts to 2 diverts to 3 diverts to 4 diverts to 5 and "5" diverts back to 1.

This way if an extension is busy it will divert or "hop" to the next extension in the group. Giving the impression that the group is hunting.

BTW on the iSDX, a hunt group will automatically divert to next extension without need of a divert !

so.. what I was saying was instead of diverting each extension to each other, divert each extension to VM and that should work.

I know scenarios where extensions can divert themselves out of the group when people accidentally put a follow me or a cidni to another extension, and report it as a fault, so that is possible.

n e way, as long as it works thats fine.

snakeblitzen is on bc12 so i don't think your theory will work particularly well as there is no cdini multidivert, the second handset must answer or the call will just ring. If you are hunting this way (sequentially), why not set up a PELPI on a GEDII instead of a Hunt Group? Just a suggestion.

Thanks everyone, I was under the impression that if a hunt group number is dialed the call would bounce about the members on no reply and cdinis were inefective except for the hunt group cdini on busy. ( I am not trained to BC12)

You can set an individual diversion point for a hunt group member and it will indeed divert on a no-answer condition (if divert on no answer is active of course. However, in BC-12, you have to make sure that ASPAC, parnum 178 is set to "1" or the HG member will be removed (diverted) out of the group for future calls.

In Octel (VMX) voicemail, you can initiate a mailbox for the HG pilot and program the HG members to divert to voicemail on no answer -- the caller will get the mailbox for the HG pilot. If you want to activate the MEW button on a particular phone when the HG has a message, you put the HG pilot mailbox in a COS that doesn't "call extension first before playing greeting" and set the extension for the mailbox as the phone you want MEW active.

I do this in BC9 and BC12.
