Hi,

Is there anything in W98, similar to net send in Windows NT, that allows a user to send a message to other users withing the network?

Thanks,

imendi

There's always winpopup (part of win98) - but everyone has to have it running.

Thanks to both!
But I was looking at something embedded in W98, as netsend in Windows NT.
I will investigate a bit more and have a look at winpopup.

Thanks again.

Thing about winpopup - if user isn't running it, you can't send them a message.

But if all concerned place a shortcut tho winpopup in the startup folder, it will launch at boot-up. Configure the program to run minimised, and always on top and all should be well.
Works O.K. for me anyhow, you just have to remember to delete read incoming messages to stop them accumulating. My suggestions are what I would try myself. If incorrect, I welcome corrections to my rather limited knowledge. Andy.

I am going to find out a bit more about winpopup.
I will try to run it as a service or at least to minimize it and display it only on the taskbar, and then on new messages it would come up.
I don´t know if that is possible, I will have alook and let you know.

Thanks to all,

imendi

If your network shares a DSL or Cable you could
do it with MSN Chat or AIM.

You could also set up Outlook as an internalmail mail program. That way they can e-mail each other. And if it is minimized to the task bar, it will notify with an alert. Or they could just check it periodically. TigerFlight [tiger]
