We currently have music on hold running into a G3SI V5.3 on an auxillary port. The music comes in through DMX. We need to add messages to the music advertising new services. In the past we just burned the ads and music on a cd and ran it on a loop. However, it would be nice to keep the DMX and bring in the ads using another means. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi
1.Sorry , what is DMS?
2.Could you setup PC with a MP3-file on sound card?
3.Some voice advertising you can add to the vector prompting step as announcement or in a hunt group queue's announcement.

Don't know how that DMX works but,
If you don't need to control the exact format and start,
just collect your 'data' on a PC, and convert the stream into MP3 and loop it.
If you want exact control, over your commercial messages and you want to start them, at the moment your customer queues, you might want to concider a VAL board.
This comes with an application to upload your messages to the board.
VAL needs V9.5 or higher though.

Our DMX is just comercial free music provided by our local cable company. We pay for the licensing in our contract so we would prefer to keep the DMX. What is a VAL board? Thanks!

The VAL board is the next generation of an announcement boards. Very sweet and has hours or recording time. With added software you are able to edit wave files and move then onto the VAL board. Price is something to think about, and its kinda new. Call your Avaya rep for more info. I'm sure they would love to tell you about it. Wisdom is Knowledge

Hi
You preffer to keep DMX...
How you want to add your own advertising into the cable translations?
Your music adapter in that case must shutting down the music volume to give you a possibility to say something?
All of that in real time? !!!
May be you want to give this advertising announcment work for a live girl? :) She will reduce music volume.

Regards

Are you using Vectoring to play the music? If so, you can have announcements programmed in the PBX to play in between the music.

01 queue to skill XX pri M
02 wait-time 60 secs hearing music
03 announcement XXXX
04 wait-time 60 secs hearing music

ETC

Hope this helps.

Tom

Keep in mind that the solution that TMiyake makes - while workable it will not allow customers put on-hold by any user to hear those messages - so that suggestion is only good in a call center environment - or in a case where you may have lengthy wait times for the attendant.

Thanks, we're not currently using vectoring, but it looks like it would work. Thanks again!
