Just curious. I never use this button and since I dont have to train new users I have not had to deal with this for a couple of years.

How is that button supposed to work? I have users who swear that when they hit that key (and there are unread message) it immediately prompts them for a password and then plays their messages. My recollection is that it will ask you to play message, delete message etc etc.

With the Call Coverage form introduced in rel 6 the message waiting key is now fully functional.

It will take you to voicemail login whether the lamp is active or not

It can also be used to transfer active calls directly to voicemail by pressing the key and entering the destination mailbox.

Thanks! We have had issues with this key since the upgrade. Mitel is looking into it now.

Do you have visual VM enabled?

What load did you upgrade from?

The reason for that last question is if you were coming from a very old SW there was a point were the msg key function changed and there was a maintenance command to change it back

It still might be worth checking if visual vm is enabled as the users can do this themselves from the phone

Press Blue Key
Select Message Key Config

I enabled the message key config..

My only option is Open Voicemail App.

When I do that I get a screen prompt for a password but entering the password generates an error "could not login because the server is not configured"

So long story short the issue was resolved Monday. I did not resolve it so I don't have the specific details. The call me back number was to a hunt group used by the phone system but not the one that could be dialed to access voicemail. Now it does call the correct number.

Another gotcha that screwed me up. For a couple of days I was saying "still doesn't work". But I learned that if the phone is on-hook the message button behaves differently than if the phone is off hook. On hook it takes you to a call me back number. Off hook it dials the voicemail system and prompts you for your password.
