I had a user that called today and said they had 7 messages but there message wait light was not lighting up, is this a problem with a burnt out Led light on the phone or something else? This is a 6408 D+ Phone set.
You could try to swap the set and see if that fixs it, but I dont think I have ever had one go out on a 6400 series set. You may need to tear down their box and rebuild it.

You should try lighting it using the leave word calling feature. Just dial the code and then the extension number. Status the extension number to see if the system lights (or at least says it has) the led. The us the code to turn it off. If you have an Octel system and end users exit their mailbox incorrectly we have found that the led will not light.
the voice mail will usually only try to light the light once. So if the link is down or other problems when it trys to light, it will not try again. Look in the 'display activity xxx' for the extension and see if the voicemail tryed to light the light.

Before you get to deep in this just try to press the test button on the 6400 series phone to make sure that the MW light works first. Then you can use above steps to try to solve the problem.
