I have an opt81 with meridian mail. Is there a way to reset the admin pswd remotely?

What I have written down has apparently been changed. I was trying to get out of going to the site if there was a way to do it remotely.

Any suggestions?

no if you don't have the old pwd you'll need a long session on site.. boot off of the install tape, add the keycodes and reprogram from scratch.. i've went through nortel and they can or will not do a back door on that box.. even when they were new and the original installer fat fingered the pwd change.. i never did that again..

If you boot of the install tape there should be a single prompt to default all system passwords, and you shouldn't have to reprogram the system.

I have done this and it works fine.

My favorite was installing the Maxcaster Security Dongle on a machine, only to have someone replace the computer without the dongle, wonder why paper was blowing out every half-hour and have another tech shut down the Max reports.

Ten months later they wanted to know where were all the wonderful stats.
