All I have is some old records / reports below.
Mail - Tandberg 2.5GB Tape Drive
This tape drive is shipped as standard with all new Mail 10 ECs.
It is backwards compatible to Mail 8 for Classic and Card Options
The drive offers an increase in storage capacity per tape from 250M to 2.5Gb. This leads to a 10 fold reduction in the number of tapes required for backups.
There is a LED indicator on the front of the unit
OFF= No Cartridge in Drive
STEADY GREEN = Cartridge is inserted.
BLINKING GREEN= Tape Drive Motor is in Operation
STEADY AMBER= Media Error
Media Error - The amber light turns off as the cartridge is removed
Hardware Error - The amber light stays on until the SCSI bus is reset. Normally

MAIL SYSTEM WILL NOT BOOT/WRITE TO DISK ON NEW INSTALL.
Lots of different version have of strapping have been suggested in the past. After much testing by Nortel the only supported arrangements are
17 and 18 19 and 20
All other straps should be removed.
It is important to note that if a External Tape Drive is being used the Bus Terminating plug must be fitted onto the Tape Streamer.

There have been a number of issues encountered by engineers involved in Meridian Mail installations and Back ups, when using a Dacon Tape Drive. The description of the problem varies from, Not being able to perform a Mail back up to actually blowing the Mail cards and wiping the Hard drive. If in any doubt about which cable you have, DO NOT USE until it has been verified with Dacon
These difficulties have so far only been encountered when the Meridian Mail is fitted with a Seagate 51080 Hard Drive.
It has been noted that if the cable supplied with the Dacon Tape drive, SCSI-1102-0600,
is substituted with a cable supplied by Nortel , NTAK1305 (A0372864), then the Tape drives become usable.
Solution
The faulty Dacon cables are 3 metres in length, anyone having a suspect cable, should ring the Dacon Helpdesk on 01442 275200, and arrange for a replacement cable to be sent FOC.
The replacement cables are 2 meters in length and can be identified by a coloured band around one end. These cables have been used successfully in the field, by performing an upgrade, install and back ups
