Meridian mail 13 failure

I'm hoping someone can give me some insight here. I've got an mm13 running on a 23.xx op11. Everything is fine except when the mail goes to do a backup a seer 6 is thrown at 93% through vs1. After that seers fail to register the voice system crashes, the aml goes down and the entire thing sits there until u pull the mail and re enable the aml.
So I tried the following all with no change:
New mail card
New hd with a fresh copy of mm
New tape drive
New tape
New tape drive cable
Key codes and tid are confirmed correct

Any ideas?

Have you also replaced the power unit module as well as the processor card?.

Got it, brand new mail card had the same issue, third card worked fine.
