I have Word documents that link to Excel spreadsheets for merging. I have used these for many years but as from last night I cannoy=t get a link. The Word document when loading displays "starting Microsoft Excel" but then does nothing until warning message comes up saying it is taking longer than expected. If I click wait, nothing happens and if I click no it states it cabbot re-establish a DDE connoection to complete current task.
As I state I have not experiemced this problem before.

I have tried a repair and re-install (without removing) Microsoft Office 2000.

Many thanks

Terry

Hi,

Did you try relinking the workbook?

Has anything changed since you MailMerged sucessfully?

Skip,

I tried re-linking.

Since posting this I have trawled the internet and came across the suggestion that I look at Excel - Tools - options -General and ensure that Ignore Other Applications is not checked. I did this and it was checked, so I unchecked and all is Ok. I cannot understand though how it came to be checked as I had not altered anything last evening when it was working OK.

Thanks anyway for taking the trouble to respond.
