Hi, I'm merging an old tape and I'm getting error:

W3853
Session was truncated. (SESSION=1)
W3887
Unable to read catalog file. (EC=FFFFFFFF)

When I double click error 3853 in activity log I can read in Action part: " This is not error"
Could these errors originate because of I started backup (the old one), brightstor wrote some info on the tape and then the job failed because of client error and if want to merge this session I got this error????
THANK YOU FOR YOUR REPLY

Try a sequintial merge via this registry setting.

Open regidt32.exe
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE on Local Machine
Open it to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ComputerAssociates\ARCserveIT\Base\Task
Highlight Task and select Edit Add Key from the menue bar.
Key Name: Merge
Class: <leave blank>
Hightlight Merge and select Edit Add Value
Value Name: DonotUseCatalogMerge
Data Type: REG_DWORD
click OK
Data: 1 *// 1 = Enabled, 0 = Disabled

For your version the path ARCserveIT might not be the same but the rest should be.
