i have come across a product called TiffJunction, which is a fantastic piece of software and it has helped me enormously. the website says this:

Batch convert TIFF to PDF with lightning speed! TIFF Junction is a command line tool that can rapidly process high volumes of document image files. TIFF Junction can also merge and split single and multipage tiff images files.

it does exactly what it says on the tin. it can be run through its interface or from the command-line, with parameters (and so in vb through the shell command - you will probably want to do this asynchronously if doing a batch conversion).

the only downside is that it's quite pricey, at $325.00...it's damn good though.

I found out about this other product at and they even have a DLL. The price is good ($69.99), but I am not totally convinced about its speed; it is not as fast as the TiffJunction.
