Hello,

Can anyone tell me what the consequence is of running switches (or routers for that matter)at +/- 90% memory capacity.
Will this have a detrimental performance effect??
And how on earth does a switch get so far even if there are only about 20 users connected.

Cisco 2900 XL

thanks in advance

Gary

Yeah... The lower end switches like the 2900/3500 run high on cpu and memory usage. The 3550 pers like a kitten though.

I wouldn't worry unless the cpu is at or above 85% and the memory is almost gone.

Hello Everybody !
I am facing a problem with Cisco 6509 Cat Switch,
The MSFC is getting reset automatically and quite ferquently
After viewing the log the error is
00:00:02: %C6K_PLATFORM-5-MISMATCH: 'bootflash' device programming algorithm mis
match detected on Router (module: 1), formatting is recommended.
00:00:02: %C6K_PLATFORM-5-LESS_SPACE: May not have enough space to save the cras
h info. on flash of Router on module: 1

What does this error refer to,
Is this a problem with the memory?
or the Flash needs to be formatted?
Please help.

Here's the explanation:
Explanation This message indicates that the Flash device programming algorithm that was written to the device when the Flash was formatted is different from what the current running software detected. The first [chars] is the device, the second [chars] is where the mismatch was detected, and [dec] is the module number.

Recommended Action Try reformatting the Flash device.

You can get this problem when you convert from hybrid (catOS on the switch, IOS on the MSFC) to native IOS (integrated IOS on the switch and MSFC), that's if you do it wrong of course!
